Final Destination???

Hi gang. The "folks" finally decided to go back to Houston and boy am I glad. I was so tired of traveling every day and I even got tired of sitting in "Momma's" lap. We went back to the park down by the water where we stayed last winter and some other times in the past. I thought that we were finally HOME and back to where the green boxes that I like to pee on were located. BUT, we only stayed for 4 days!! I was so disappointed today when we packed up and left. They say that we are in our final location for the winter but I won't believe them for a while. There are some green boxes here so that is good news for me but I still haven't found Lorraine and nobody has given me ANY treats since I left Maine. I don't know why I can only get treats from one person. What is wrong with everyone else. Don't they know I'm hungry for something other than dog food!

Back on the Mainland

I know it has been forever since I wrote anything here but the humans that I live with had this "bright" idea to go to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I had no clue what that meant but boy did I find out. The middle ofn nowhere is what it is mostly. What little internet service we had they certainly weren't going to share with me so I finally got my paws on the keyboard this morning. Let me tell you...the Outer Banks (just islands off the shore of North Carolina) may be the middle of nowhere...but it is the best middle of nowhere I have ever seen. I really had a good time when they took me to the beach. The sand is so soft and it was so much fun to run in. I believe I might have lost my dignity there for a while. I just couldn't help myself!! My "momma" kept trying to get me into the water but I was smarter and faster than she thought. That was until she picked me up and put me into it. She only got my paws wet. Oh the trials of being small. If I were a Rottweiler, she wouldn't have done that. But if I were a Rottweiler, I would have been right in the water anyway. They have no fear.... Anyway, back to OBX as the islands are called. If you ever have the opportunity to go there, just do it. I don't think I would go in the summer...too hot and too many people. I hope we go back next fall when we leave Maine. It would be ok with me if we just spent a week or two there!! I guess I am a beach dog after all. I will include a picture of me on the beach. Woooohooo...I LOVE the beach

Visit from the Cat Lady and Time to Leave

Well, tomorrow is TRAVEL DAY and I am not sure I am ready for that. It means that we will no longer be by Lorraine and that means no more treats. I am certainly not happy about that. Everybody was outside tonight (in the cold I might add) saying good-bye and hugging. Nobody but Lorraine hugged me. See what I mean!!!

The past few days were interesting because we had a visit from my "momma's" daughter, Laura. I refer to her as the Cat Lady because she has two HUGE cats and she takes their side when we go see them. She just doesn't know what those cats do to me when we are left at home by ourselves. They are twice as big as me and, well the trauma I suffer at the paws of those cats is something else. Then I get yelled out when I just barely bark at one of them....HUMPF!

Well she came for a visit and, as bad as I hate to admit it, she wasn't so bad. She was even pretty nice to me while she was here. I think she just missed her fur balls and I was the closest thing she could get to them. Just before she left though, her true colors came out because she put me between two throw pillows and declared that I was a puppy sandwich. See only an evil person could think of a puppy sandwich. I knew she was just faking it when she scratched my ears and pretended to like me. I did get left home alone a lot while she was here...hmm.

Almost time to leave

It has been awhile since I could get to the computer to post anything but finally I made it. Life had been pretty good for me until this week. THEN...my humans took off and left me all day long cooped up here in this RV while they went off to Boston. It really wasn't too bad as I had food, water, my really comfy bed or the sofa or any of the chairs so I just made the rounds and slept on all of them. Plus the next day "Daddy" felt so guilty he took me for the longest walk ever. He let me sniff anything and everything I wanted to. BUT then on Friday, they took me to the groomer...YUK. I look really good when she gets done but boy do I hate it. I got bathed, trimmed and then all fluffed out. One benefit of suffering this indignity is that everyone thinks I am "sooooo cute" that I get more treats and more petting. Maybe the trade off is worth the bath...hmmmmm....NO WAY!!!

I keep hearing from the humans that we will be leaving here soon and heading back to Texas. I'm not sure I like this idea because I have to leave Lorraine and the treats next door. Maybe when I get to Texas I can get someone else to spoil me like she does. That is definitely something I will have to work on. I better start developing a strategy for that...hmmm. Lots to think about. I just bet that I get left home alone on the way so that "Mom" and "Dad" can go sightseeing but hey, I get the whole place to myself and who knows what I'll do. Let them think about that for a while!!!

PAAAAARRRRTTTTYYYYY!!

I guess after last night I have been elevated to the status of work camper. "Momma" and "Daddy" took me to a work camper party last night. All of the other workers treated me pretty good and fed me some ribs and gave me the bones. I think they were feeling a bit sorry for me since I was limping the other day. My left hind knee sort of popped out of place and everyone was real happy to see me walking around again without a limp. I even showed off my Devil Dog imitation. "Momma" showed Randy and Sue and the others how I protect my bones. I just do it so she will think I have a trick to perform. They were all surprised at the sound I can make while trying to bite some one's shoe. I have to tell you that human shoes taste pretty nasty, but everyone thinks it is amazing so I give them a little demonstration. After that, I smelled something and starting hunting it down. Remember, I told you how I can hunt. Benny was totally amazed that any kind of dog other than his beagles could hunt. He just doesn't know how sharp this little noses is. All in all it was pretty fun. I got petted, fed, held and generally pampered and anytime you can get that it is all good!!!

Back at Meadowbrook

Well, we are back at Meadowbrook and everyone is back especially Lorraine and Jonesy. We have visited with them and YUMMY - she has treats. I have gotten a little irritated because she has been giving MY treats to just any dog that comes by to visit. Doesn't she know that this is wrong. They are my treats. She bought them for ME. I haven't been able to stop her so I guess I will just have to endure it.

The past two nights the humans and I haven't got outside to visit because it has been too cold. That is right too cold. By about 6 PM, it is well into the 50s and I was even shivering last night for the few minutes we were out. Today is bright, sunny and much warmer so maybe I will get out more today. The human's car has been in the shop for the past two days so they have been home with me. "Momma" has spent some time sitting on the couch reading so I have very slyly maneuvered myself into her lap and laid there. That has been very comfortable, but today they have been outside rearranging the bays of the motorhome so I have had to be content with lying in the grass in the sun.....AHHHHH

Moosehead Lake

Here is a picture of me hunting at Moosehead.....

Well FINALLY!!!!! I have not been able to write anything for so long I thought my paws would forget how to use the computer.

We did take that trip I mentioned in my last post and I have to admit that the humans did pick a very nice spot. We left last Sunday and drove for about 3 hours which for me was just a fairly decent nap. I slept in "Momma's" lap except when she would hold me up and try to get me to be interested in the scenery. I don't know why she would think I would be interested but she ALWAYS does that and I ALWAYS just turn my head away. You would think she would learn.

We got to Moosehead Family Campground and it was sort of nice. Not nearly so many people as here and I got to run around every night by the campfire and "hunt". I have never mentioned my hunting before, but this is where I stick my nose to the ground and run around looking very serious. The humans think it is so cute - YUK!! I just do it because I like to find new smells and it gets my ears scratched.

I did get to ride around with them some in the car while we were up there, but then the last two days they left me alone all day. I did get to run around a little more these nights because I think they felt guilty. AND well they should have - leaving ME alone. I just don't understand how they can do that!!!

We got home on Thursday and have had internet problems and they had to work so I am finally getting to tell my tale. The night we got back was the only night that Lorraine and Jonesy were here as they have gone off on a trip. I wish they had taken me as she is the only one with treats. I hope they get back soon but the humans haven't told me anything about that so I will just have to keep watch.

Wednesday - August 23, 2007

Hey, I think I may be on to something. Last night I started whining a bit and looking longingly at the door and my "Momma" actually got up and took me for a walk around the campground. I almost made her run to keep up with me as I made a bee line to my favorite pee spot....the dumpster!! Forgive my language but that is what it is. It just smells so good and it is just the right place to start out. A friend of the female came out of the store and so she stopped to talk. I wasn't ready to stop so I fixed her...I pooped right there near the place where they keep the ice. She had to stop talking to pick it up in that little bag she carries when we go out. Anyway, all along the way people were stopping to pet me and tell me how cute I am and ask if their kids can pet me. The female says yes and I don't mind too much except for the kids. I have never been too fond of kids because they are usually too rough and pull my ears or something else!

After we got back, I heard the humans talking about another trip we are taking this weekend. This time we will take the motorhome and go to a place called Moosehead Lake or something like that. I will fill in more as soon as I can eavesdrop enough to get the details.

ROAD TRIP!!!!!

Well, finally, the humans decided to get me out of the RV for a trip in the car. They seem to have gotten a bit lazy this summer about doing this and I am the one who suffers!

They decided that we should go to Mt. Washington also known as the Home of the World's Worst Weather - like I would enjoy bad weather. But anything to get out of the house, so off we went. It wasn't exactly what I had in mind when I had to share the female's lap with the computer because they didn't know the way to this place. But all in all, it wasn't too bad.

First they stopped to stretch their legs and I got to go to the bathroom on a couple of bushes. Ah...nothing better. While we were there, a couple of people who stopped at this rest stop wanted to talk the female who keeps calling herself my Momma. She didn't give birth to me but if she wants to think of herself as Momma then I guess I'll let her. One of the men said he has a poodle just like me and everyone knows that there is not another like me. He tried to feed me a piece of his egg salad sandwich but I am too smart to take food from strangers. So I just turned up my nose. I think the female was a bit embarrassed but oh well.

I did have to suffer some insults like being left in the car while they ate lunch but they did bring me some water and I did get to drink some Dr. Pepper. They also left me in the car while they walked around the summit of Mt. Washington. I did get out for a few minutes but it was a bit too cold for me so it was ok.

My only thing is that they need to take me out more and I am going to make my wishes known a little more forcefully so that they will get the hint.

Friday - 8/17/2007

Boy, what a boring week this has been for me. The humans have worked the past 3 days and all I get to do is lay around and sleep. At least in the evening, I get to go over to Lorraine's and she always has treats for me. I am thinking about running away with her, but I think the female here would be pretty sad. They did give me rib bones twice this week...so the decision is still up in the air. I have heard that they are all going out to dinner tonight so maybe I will get good left overs. I keep hearing the humans talk about a trip to some lake in the near future and I hope it comes soon. If I find out more about that I'll let you know. Well it is time for my afternoon nap so I will leave you for now.

Wednesday - 8/15/2007

Layed around the house mostly today because the people worked today. After they came home I went next door to visit Lorraine and she had a surprise for me...BACON TREATS!!! They were so goooood.

The people have to go to work tomorrow so, I will have to stay home and guard the homestead. I am an excellent guard dog.

I HAVE A BLOG!!!

Well, finally, I have my own blog. Now I can communicate with the whole world about my wonderful life.

I live in an RV. There are two humanoids that stay with me. They are along on this journey to feed and take care of me. We have been on the road since April 2006. I love traveling because I get to lay in the female humanoid's (FH) lap and sleep.

This morning I helped the 2 humanoids wash my car. I supervised the entire process. When they missed a spot I told them about it immediately. I sent the male to fetch a shop vac from the big metal building and the female vacuumed the carpet. It looks a lot better now. I did a terrific job supervising.

I have to take a nap this afternoon. This has been a hard morning.

After I awoke from my nap, we all went next door and visited Jonesy and Lorraine. They are the best next door neighbors. Lorraine gives me ham sometimes. Buddy (a rescue cocker) came over to see me and bought Bill with him. They stayed awhile and went back home.

I had the best dinner tonight...Bar-B-Q rib bones. I ate till I was stuffed.
